Interesting new article out today on the power and value of social media with regard to peer reviews. What does that mean? In short, people trust what other people say 78% more than paid, internet advertising (only 14% of those polled trust this).

And what does this mean for you? You are going to get a lot more business and sales via referrals of individuals who have used/purchased your services than you are going to with paid advertising.

So what can you do about this? Well, start thinking forward as to how you can leverage a peer review system in your company. If services/products are rendered, perhaps after a short period of time, (say a week or two) you can contact them and ask them to leave a company review for you online somewhere. Obviously you don’t want it on your own company site since that will come off looking a little biased (though if it is posted at another peer review site, you will definitely want to link to it from your site), but you can find a reputable community forum or online review system and have people post there.

Believe me, if you want to drive sales…well, this is the way to do it. The numbers don’t lie.
