…and marketing yourself along the way.

Talk about pulling off some major kudos, Mark Zuckerberg, founder and CEO of Facebook, gave an interview in Mandarin at the Tsinghua University in Beijing. He has been learning the language since 2010. Take a look here:

Now why do you suppose Mr. Zuckerberg has been learning Mandarin? Well, there are numerous reasons, I’m sure. But no doubt, one is definitely going to be the fact that Facebook has had a notoriously difficult time being accepted by the Chinese Government as a legitimate means of communication. Perhaps Mr. Zuckerberg is doing a bit of good will and advertisement by showing the lengths he will go to show respect and understanding of this culture by communicating in their language.

And that’s what Facebook is about…communication. The very fact that he does this interview in Beijing in Mandarin is a message being sent.

As you reflect on the lengths he goes, you must ask the question what lengths do you go to show to your community your desire to interact with them, communicate with them, and even serve them.

How are you doing it these days? Are you following their trends and becoming involved? This is an essential aspect of marketing yourself…so it’s time to get out there.
